Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. There are more than 20 albums. DiFranco categorizes her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative. However, it has influences from hip-hop, punk and jazz. Ani Difranco has been widely considered to be a symbol for feminist music. In 1990 she was one of the first to establish her own label independently. DiFranco was a born on 23rd September 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Dante Americo DiFranco. Both her parents were both of Montreal origin. Ani diFranco wrote and performed the song 32 Flavors. This track is on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. This song appears on the film soundtrack for the Canadian romantic drama Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it became known that she was hosting the three-day event at the site of a Louisiana former slave plantation. It was called off However, certain (including the newspaper) didn't see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco issued an additional apology only a few days later. While she is known by the name of Little Peoplesinger, she's been in contact with a myriad of musicians and artists from Pete Seeger through Chuck D all the way to Prince. The singer hails from New Orleans. Ani has the name Kristen Ford. Within 14 years she was creating her own music. They continued to be performed in bar and cafes during her teens. DiFranco completed her studies at her Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school at 16 and started attending classes at Buffalo State College. The new baritone she got was custom-built by Alvarez built by Chrys Johnston, who at the time was working as an Alvarez Artist Rep. She's at home with her family in New Orleans where she lives with her husband, two children and sidekick Lefty their dog with a long leash who is constantly in and out of the frame while we talk. DiFranco acknowledges that three decades after her debut in music, she still isn't sure what to expect when looking back. Ani DiFranco achieved musical icon status as a singer/songwriter as well as punk/folk around the age of 25 both with both fans and critics with Not A Pretty Girl.
